Statkraft inks PPA for major Yorkshire solar and battery project

Statkraft has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement for an 80.6MW solar farm and an 8MW battery storage system in Yorkshire

Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable power generator, has entered a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and optimisation agreement with international investor FP Lux Group.

This agreement covers the Scurf Dyke Solar Farm and an adjacent battery storage system near Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire.

The solar farm, with an installed capacity of 80.6MW, is one of the UK’s largest.

BayWa r.e. played a key role in developing and constructing the project and will manage its operations and maintenance under a long term agreement.

FP Lux and BayWa r.e. are also developing an 8MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) adjacent to the solar farm, which Statkraft will optimise.

John Puddephatt, Statkraft’s PPA Origination Manager, highlighted the significance of the new partnership: “Following a competitive tendering process, Statkraft was selected as the offtaker for Scurf Dyke.

“We were excited to be involved, especially with the potential addition of a BESS.”
