EDF launches fixed tariff below October price cap

EDF has launched a new fixed tariff, priced at £1,568 for typical users, which is £149 below the upcoming energy price cap

EDF has introduced a new fixed tariff priced at £1,568 for a typical user, which is £149 below the upcoming energy price cap set by Ofgem.

This fixed rate is aimed at helping customers as the price cap is expected to increase by 10% to £1,717 starting from 1st October.

The new Essentials Fixed 1y Oct25 tariff allows customers to secure their energy costs for a year at the current price level.

EDF’s price cap forecast suggests that the cap may rise by at least £122 above this tariff over the winter months due to ongoing changes in global gas prices.

The tariff is available to both new and existing EDF customers but requires a smart meter or the agreement to install one.

Rich Hughes Director of Retail at EDF, said: “We want to do as much as we can to help and with wholesale prices currently lower, we are pleased to offer a deal which is almost £150 below the October price cap, supported by great service, with nine out of 10 customers rating us five stars on Trust Pilot in August.”
