Petrol prices have dropped to their lowest level in three years, bringing good news for households that rely on their vehicles.
According to Simon Williams, a spokesperson for the RAC, drivers can find unleaded petrol for as low as £1.26 per litre, meaning that filling up a typical family car costs less than £70.
This decrease in pump prices is mainly due to two factors: lower global demand for oil and a relatively strong pound.
Simon Williams said: “We’re now a long way from the record high prices of July 2022 which saw the average price of a litre of unleaded hit £1.92, and we believe there is scope for pump prices to come down further in the next few weeks to reflect the lower wholesale costs retailers are paying when they buy fresh fuel stocks.”
