The rollout of smart meters in Britain continued to gain momentum in September, with installations rising by 11% compared to the previous month, according to the latest data from ElectraLink.
A total of 208,000 smart meters were installed throughout the month.
While the September figures represent a modest increase of just 3% from the same month last year, they are significantly higher than installation numbers seen in most months earlier in 2024.
The cumulative total of smart meter installations for the year now stands at 1.79 million, contributing to a remarkable 24.1 million installations since ElectraLink began recording data in 2012.
Regionally, the installation figures for September highlighted familiar patterns, with East England leading the way with 26,000 installations.
Southern England followed closely with 24,000 installations, while the East Midlands recorded 19,000 new smart meters.
