National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) has introduced a £500,000 Community Matters Fund aimed at helping households struggling with fuel costs during the winter.
Charities and community groups can apply for grants of up to £5,000, while smaller organisations can apply for up to £2,000.
Applications are open until 5 pm on 1st November.
The fund supports initiatives like distributing warm packs, offering energy-saving advice, running warm spaces in community buildings, and helping improve home energy efficiency.
In addition to the grants, NGED is working with partners across its service areas, including the South West, South Wales, and the East and West Midlands, to provide targeted support.
Programmes like “Power Up” and “Affordable Warmth” offer advice on energy savings, benefit eligibility, and switching to better tariffs.
Last year, these initiatives helped over 23,000 households, saving a combined £23 million.
