More than 400 electricity engineers and field staff have been redeployed across the UK to assist with the clean-up following Storm Éowyn.
This includes 200 personnel supporting around 1,000 NIE Networks staff in Northern Ireland, where 43,000 customers remain without power after extensive damage.
So far, 242,000 properties in Northern Ireland and 620,000 in Scotland, England and Wales have been reconnected.
The Energy Networks Association is coordinating mutual aid, transferring people and equipment between network operators to restore power swiftly. Teams are working around-the-clock to reconnect all customers.
Lawrence Slade, Chief Executive of Energy Networks Association, said: “As network operators reconnect customers, teams and equipment are being ‘freed up’ and sent from Scotland, England and Wales to Northern Ireland, to support the reconnection efforts there.
“More people and equipment are expected to be sent over later this week. Everyone is working flat out to support and reconnect customers. This is a huge team effort from every network operator across the UK, Ireland and further afield.”
