Cleaner sewage pipes are on their way made of environmentally ‘kinder’ plastic.
UPVC major manufacturer REHAU has launched what it says is the world’s first 100% climate-neutral plastic sewer system.
This system helps cut emissions in the wastewater industry by using recycled polymer from high-quality polypropylene. This reduces CO2 through sustainable, recyclable materials.
Installing 50 kilometres of this new plastic pipework saves 360 tonnes of CO2. That’s equal to the yearly emissions of 75 UK homes.
REHAU’s Return concept supports a circular economy, with old pipes and waste becoming new products. The system contains 80% recycled industrial materials from construction and packaging residues.
