New website offers guidance on heat pumps for UK homeowners

A newly-launched website supported by Nesta and the MCS Foundation, provides practical advice for UK homeowners interested in heat pumps

A new website, GetAHeatPump.org.uk, has been launched to provide UK homeowners with impartial and easy-to-understand advice on heat pumps.

The platform, supported by Nesta and the MCS Foundation, offers consumer-friendly resources aimed at helping people navigate the process of switching to a heat pump.

The website features a range of tools and information, including a quiz to assist users in finding the most suitable heat pump for their homes, guides on installation costs and resources on how to find qualified installers.

It also includes renovation tips and case studies from homeowners who have already made the switch to heat pumps.

Heat pumps are considered essential for the UK to meet its decarbonisation targets, but so far only about 250,000 households have installed them.

Despite the low uptake, research from Nesta shows high levels of satisfaction among heat pump owners, with 81% of users reporting they are as satisfied or more satisfied compared to their previous heating system.

This satisfaction rate rises to 83% for those living in Victorian or older homes.
