Fund launched to assist home energy saving upgrades

Homeowners and private tenants in North Somerset can now apply for support through the Enabling Works Fund to help install energy saving upgrades such as insulation and solar panels

Homeowners and private tenants in North Somerset who have struggled to install energy saving upgrades can now seek assistance through the Enabling Works Fund.

This initiative is funded by North Somerset Council’s share of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is managed by the Centre for Sustainable Energy.

The Enabling Works Fund aims to cover the costs needed to prepare homes for energy-saving improvements, helping residents improve their properties and reduce energy bills.

The fund can help with clearing or removing boards from lofts, expanding loft hatches, removing debris for wall insulation, setting up scaffolding for insulation work, fixing structural issues, cleaning roofs and addressing issues with felting wires.

Councillor Mark Canniford, North Somerset Council’s Executive Member for Placemaking and Economy, said: “Improving energy efficiency in homes is a vital part of our effort to reduce carbon emissions and help residents manage rising energy costs.

“Unfortunately, too many people are held back by barriers that prevent them from making these crucial improvements.”
