National Energy Action (NEA) has launched a new programme, Warm Homes, Healthy Futures, in collaboration with four gas distribution networks across England, Scotland and Wales.
The project aims to help 30,000 people who face challenges from cold and poor-quality homes.
Funded by the Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide allowance budget, this £12.2 million initiative is the largest of its kind.
It includes partners Cadent, Northern Gas Networks, SGN, and Wales & West Utilities, with Northern Gas Networks leading the project.
The programme connects the energy, housing, and health sectors, offering a pathway for health and social care professionals to refer clients for essential support.
This includes energy advice, carbon monoxide safety checks, and gas appliance servicing, to improve home conditions and address health inequalities linked to fuel poverty.
With an estimated six million households struggling with fuel poverty and the impacts of cold homes costing the NHS over £1.4 billion annually, the initiative seeks to provide much-needed assistance.
